Nico Roets is the Market Area President and Chief Executive Officer at Kopex Africa, a world class manufacturer of dry type transformers in flameproof and non-flameproof models, including associated switch gear. Kopex Africa was recently honored with a feature and front cover of Modern Mining Magazine, distributed by Crown Publishers. And in June 2014, Kopex will debut a new gas cooled dry transformer which could revolutionize the coal mining industry. Like all of Kopex’s equipment, it will be manufactured according to the strictest international standards and type tested for performance and quality.
Kopex is a full-service manufacturer, doing all their manufacturing and design in-house at their 10,000-square-meter factory located in Apex Industrial, Benoni, South Africa. Kopex has been designing and manufacturing dry type transformers since the late 1970s, and their experience shows in the quality of their product – the “Rolls Royce” of transformers. Dry type transformers don’t use oil, making them safer, more economical and more environmentally friendly. Dry type transformers are ideal for use in high rise buildings and “green energy” projects in remote locations. These transformers are prized for their reliability and low maintenance.
Roets is passionate about his work as the CEO of Kopex Africa, saying, “We pride ourselves on the reliability and quality of our products, the ability and skills of our people and the experience gained.”
An expert in mechanical engineering, Roets specializes in manufacturing. He earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and completed an Honors degree in Mechanical Engineering with maintenance as his major.
Roets looks forward to continuing to grow with Kopex Africa. He attributes his success to being passionate about his work, and taking time to develop the talent of those who work with him.
