Bristol Who’s Who Recognizes Dr. Gerardo Toledo

Dr. Gerardo Toledo is a scholar, researcher, designer, and visual and media artist on the forefront of media technology and graphic design. Currently, he serves as a Professor and Researcher for Metropolitan Autonomous University Azcapotzalco (UAM A) in Mexico City.  As the Chair of Semiotics of Design Research Area, he has been teaching and researching graphic design, media, visual arts and semiotics for over 32 years, 22 of which have been in service to UAM A. Well known across Mexico and Canada, he is also the chair of Editorial Council and Member of Editorial Committee at the university.
 
After completing a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design from UAM A in 1981, Gerardo went on to receive is Master of Art in Fine Art, Painting and New Media Arts from the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas at UNAM. Relocating to Canada for his doctoral studies, Gerardo earned his PhD in Media Studies from the University of Western Ontario, conducting his thesis on subjectivity, autoempathy and virtual world aesthetics.
 
Gerardo credits his parents with inspiring his life passion, following in their footsteps to become a professor. He continues to push the envelope and innovate in multidisciplinary art and its convergence with communication. In 2014, his article “Consensual Hallucination. Bryn Oh’s Second Life-Based work” was published in The Metaverse Creativity Journal (Vol 4. Issue 1, June 2014. http://www.intellectbooks.co.uk/journals/view-Article,id=19256/). He resides in London, Ontario, and speaks fluent English, Spanish and Italian, with a working proficiency in French and Portuguese.
