Heike Mahmoud, CMP, is the Director Conventions at the visitBerlin Berlin Convention Office, a globally renowned advertising hub serving the congress metropolis of Berlin. With over 20 years of experience, Heike is an expert in marketing, hospitality management, and strategic business development. She uses her acute knowledge of international communication to bring new congresses, meetings, incentives and events to Berlin and to grow the conventions business throughout Germany.
After earning an MBA in Economics and further Specialization in Marketing from the University of Applied Science and Technology, Berlin in 1988 and 1996 Heike went on to become a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with the Convention Industry Council. She is a member of the Executive Board of BestCities Global Alliance (since 2016 ) – a global network of 11 leading congress cities at 5 continents -, Past-Executive Committee Member and Past-President of Meetings Industry of European Cities Marketing (ECM) in (2012-2015), Past-President of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), Past-President of Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), Member of the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) and the German Convention Bureau (GCB).
Together with her team of 17 members she established Berlin as number one city for international association congresses worldwide, according the latest ranking of the ICCA-statistics 2015, published May 18th, 2016.
Heike was inspired to enter this profession by her passion for sharing information and connecting with people on an international level. Ranked as one of the top twenty five leaders in congress and international meetings (2015), Heike has published different articles in the Media of the global Meetings Industry and she frequently speaks at industry conferences on a national and international level.
Heike is ever on the lookout to form new relationships and foster growth in her community in Berlin, and is fluent in German and English. When she is not making significant contributions to her city, Heike is an avid reader and an international jet-setter, traveling whenever she can.
