Tim Weil is an IT Security Program Manager with over twenty five years’ experience in data processing, communications engineering, and information assurance (IA). His areas of expertise  include FedRAMP/FISMA compliance for federal agencies and cloud service providers, IT Service Management, cloud security (FedRAMP),  enterprise risk management (NIST) for federal agencies and ISO 27001 compliance for commercial clients. In the area of Program Management Mr. Weil has directed professional IA program teams in both the commercial and federal sectors.  Professional expertise areas are listed here.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Immaculate Heart College he taught in the Los Angeles public school system.  Tim later completed undergraduate studies in Computer Science from California State University (Chico) and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from The John Hopkins University (Baltimore).   In the 1990s, he worked in telecommunication industry as both a network engineer and project manager developing public and private networks for international companies in the Washington DC area.  Since returning to Colorado in 2010 he has worked as an Information Security Manager for the US Antarctic Program and US Department of Interior.  He recently completed an engagement with Coalfire as a Senior IT Auditor providing FISMA/FedRAMP expertise to commercial clients and helping to establish Coalfire’s ISO 27001 line of business.  He is currently an industry-certified Security and Privacy professional (CISSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), IT Auditor (CISA). Certified Risk and IS Control Professional (CRISC)
 
Throughout his career Tim has been an active volunteer for the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).   He is a published author and has a 2-year appointment on the Editorial Board for IEEE IT Professional Magazine.  Having several as conference chair for IEEE GREENTECH and patron chair for IEEE GLOBECOM conferences, in 2015 Tim was awarded the IEEE-USA National Service Award for conference and program development.   He is also the past Chair of the IEEE Washington DC and Denver sections.
 
Today, Tim resides in Denver, Colorado, where enjoys the Rocky Mountain’s outdoors including cross country skiing, fishing and hiking.   Tim also keeps active as a tennis player, chess player and amateur storyteller.
