22 years I have had two in one job. On one hand I was the General Manager of the Hamburg Athletic Association and on the other I was the Race Director of the Marathon Hamburg. In August 2007 I changed to ACT AGENCY GmbH and from this time on I only have one job: to organize sports event. After my studies - I majored in Biology and Sport - I graduated in Sport, Tourism and Event Management. I was lucky to have the chance to combine my passion with my profession. My passion was and is running - at that time I was in fact a local track and field champion especially in the discipline 3000m steeple chase. No play without work I also enjoyed arranging events on a voluntary basis - the normal way to get into the sport management in Germany. In 1987 I started in Hamburg as General Manager and Manager of Sports Organization. In 1996 I became the first professional Race Director in Germany. In 2004 I was invited to serve on the Advisory Board of the Sporting Committee of the City of Hamburg as the spokesman for all big sporting events in our city. I also have the same function in the Hamburg Competitive Sports Foundation which supports sporting talents in Hamburg. My biggest challenge as Senior Project Manager in one of the leading sports agencies in Hamburg is to ensure that the Marathon Hamburg belongs to the group of the top ten marathons in the world. This means that every year we must deliver a very high level event with good participation numbers and running times. My career highlights are the rise in entries over the last 5 years topping more than 23.500 and the placement of our race on place 4 in the world fastest races in 2006.My worst crisis was in 2002 when a 19 year old runner died 200m before the finishing line.
